LOG CORNER SYSTEMS and LOG PROFILES

Arkansas Log Homes offers a variety of log profiles. These choices offer a range of style and visual appeal, both on the exterior and on the interior of your home:

LOG PROFILES

  • D-Shape House Logs -   Our most popular design. Rounded exterior with a flat interior face perfect for outlets & switch plates, plus low upkeep (no "dust catchers"). Rustic variant offers a natural unmilled outer face.
  • Double Round House Logs   - Similar to D-Shape logs, but rounded on interior surface identical to exterior. Maximizes look & feel of logs on inside of home.
  • Swedish Coped House Logs - Features traditional Swedish Coped bottom and an old-fashioned saddle notch (solid) corner system.

  • Square Mountain House Logs - Flat sawn surfaces with exterior chinking recess, while retaining double tongue & groove seal for modern home performance and energy efficiency.

LOG CORNER STYLES

Butt-and-Pass - In this corner and wall style, one log stops (butts) and the other extends (pass) the corner. There are dozens of variations of this corner system, all involving the shape of area where the logs meet at the corner.

Dove-Tail This is the most traditional of corner-type  and strongest.  Many consider this type to be a lost 'art' in craftsmanship.  Each log is cut to produce a fan-shaped wedge. As each course of logs are stacked, the log ends lock into each other.

Saddle Notch The notch on the bottom of each round log straddles the one below it. Both logs then extend past the corner.

Swedish Cope -  A variation on the saddle notch, the Swedish Cope corner style is often employed in handcrafted log and timber homes.

Post Corner -   This style looks distinctly different than the other over-lapping corner styles. In this corner system, logs up against a corner post.
